The recent horrifying incident in my home city forced me to manifest the action of determination.
The action of determination is the action of Cleaning, an action of Peace. In this action of cleaning violence, I keep cleaning the bloodstains with strong determination. I forge this performance not just specifically in relation to the recent incidence in Mumbai but the violence and war in the whole world. I use the metaphor of cleaning the blood towards the action to wipe out those stains of violence and bloodshed.
This performance and installation has a poignant quality of change and transformation. This world that is created by us to live in – we have a responsibility to keep it, clean it and make harmony and peace with determination!

Born in India, Meher created her 1st performance in 1998, Reflect, a personal window display in Mumbai with the statement ‘Nothing is permanent & it’s nature’s law’. In 2000-01, residency at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. In 2006 performed at Tate Modern, London, Dadao international performance festival, Beijing & 1st Sinop Biennale, Turkey. In 2001, 2007 & 2010 performed at NRLA, Glasgow, in 2009 FEM Gresol Spain, exhibition Rebelle, (Art & Feminism) at MMKA Arnhem, NL & Art Dubai. In 2011 MAXXI museum Rome, Guangzhou Live 11 China, Infr’action Sete, France & LA 7 Gothenburg Sweden, in 2013 IPA Istanbul modern museum, 4th Thessaloniki Biennale, ICASTICA ’13, Arezzo Biennial, Italy where she received the prestigious ‘Golden Chimera Award’ for innovation and originality, in 2014 at University UFO & Sustainability, Ghent, BE, Venice International experimental cinema and performance art festival, & Bochum kunstmuseum Germany, in 2016 she performed for ‘Ritual Traces’ SAWCC New York, DAK’ART 2016 & in 2017 performed at Kathmandu Triennale and Manifesta HQ Amsterdam.
Meher is currently based in Ghent, Belgium.

Born in 1969 Pune, India. Graduated from Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai, 1990. In 1998 her first performance, Reflect, A personal window display, in Mumbai with the statement “Nothing is permanent & it’s a nature’s law”. In 2000-01, residency at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. In 2006 performed at Tate Modern, London in Mapping Mumbai event, Nederlands Een exhibition in Gouda Museum, Holland, Dadao international performance festival, Beijing and 1st Sinop Biennale, Turkey. In 2001 & 2007 performed at National Review of Live Art, Glasgow. In 2008 at Khoj Live, New Delhi, in 2009 at FEM Gresol Spain & in Art Dubai, supported by Mondriaan Foundation & Show Rebelle, (Art & Feminism) at MMKA Arnhem, Netherlands.
